Shining Soul is an action role-playing game (ARPG) for the Game Boy Advance that shifts the Shining series from its traditional turn-based strategy roots to a real-time, "Diablo-style" hack-and-slash experience. Set in the land of Rune, players take on the role of a hero from the Shining Fleet tasked with defeating the Dark Dragon and its Five Generals of Darkness. 

Core Gameplay Features

• Character Classes: Players choose from four distinct classes: Warrior (balanced), Archer (ranged), Dragonute (defensive but slow), and Wizard (offensive magic).
• Real-Time Combat: Unlike previous Shining Force titles, combat happens in real-time within dungeons. You can cycle through three equipped weapons and items using the L and R triggers without pausing.
• "Soul" Mechanic: Beyond standard equipment, players can equip a "Soul" item that charges as enemies are defeated and can be unleashed for massive area-of-effect damage.
• Progression & Loot: Leveling up grants stat points (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Vitality) and skill points for class-specific abilities. The game features randomized loot that often requires identification at the base camp.
• Multiplayer: The game supports up to four-player cooperative play via a GBA Link Cable, which many reviewers noted as the most enjoyable way to play.
